Our job is simple...to walk in truth, pray always, watch out for one another, and wait for the coming of the Lord. God's peace will steady our hearts during uncertain times in life. This was true for them and it is just as true for us today!

Paul shares this hope with this new church to give peace in hard times. Jesus made them and us a promise that He is coming again and death would not be the end for us....this gives us HOPE!

What comes to mind when you think about holiness? In reality as a Christian, we are called to holiness. Paul addressed a lot of issues concerning outside opposition, but Paul then turned the focus on the inward battle of purity and holiness. This church was challenged to have unshakable purity.

One of the most distinguishable characteristics of a Christian should be love. If God is love and we have God in our lives, then the love of God will show through our lives. Paul received the report about the church in I Thessalonians that they were known by their faith and love. This was their reputation and it was obvious. How are you known by others?

The church in Thessalonica was full of new believers and they were facing lots of opposition. What was so encouraging to Paul was that they were so unshaken in their faith. Even though they were facing trails, they were unwavering. Paul writes this letter out of love, like a father, and encourages them to stay strong! We can have unshakable faith even in the midst of great tribulation.

Pastor Tony Liuzzo (Lead Pastor) - 1 Thessalonians 1 & 2 (1 Thessalonians 1:1-10; 2:1-20; 3:1; Acts 16:22-23; Romans 15:1-2)
In the first chapter of Thessalonians, Paul is elated over the testimony and genuine joy that this church was experiencing. Their testimony and passion was spreading to the surrounding cities.Satan was trying to discourage them through opposition, but the opposition was just proving to them that God was working. They had an unshakable joy! A joy that comes from the Spirit of God and not from circumstances. This reminds us that God gives us this same joy through the working of His Spirit! We too can have unshakable joy!

In this final lesson of our study in 2 Peter, we will be challenged to remain faithful to Jesus! By learning to take the truth with us as we live our lives, we will get a better understanding of what obedience actually means and what it looks like in the face of opposition. We will also think about how our view of God impacts our faith and obedience, and we will be confronted with a God that is high, holy, and that demands our worship! Ultimately, we will be called to a life of following Jesus—one that reflects His character, rests in His completed work, and is marked by consistent growth, all for the glory of God and the advancement of the Gospel.

How can we grow spiritually and make progress in our Christian lives?
In this study of the book of 2 Peter, we will learn that spiritual growth and formation does not happen because we get some new revelation from God, or because we discover a hidden secret that unlocks the blessed life. Spiritual growth and formation happens when we remember the truth that has already been revealed to us, and respond to it with faithfulness and obedience. We do not need something new, but instead we need to renew our commitment to the way of Jesus!
We need to remember so that we can grow!

In this lesson, we will dive into 2 Peter chapter 2, where we will be challenged to hold firmly to the truth of God’s Word, enabling us to recognize false teachings and errors. We will be reminded of the subtlety of the enemy and the corrupting influence of the world. Ultimately, we will find encouragement in knowing and obeying God’s Word, equipping us to clearly contrast the evil and error in this world with the goodness and truth of God.
